The Raconteurs

From left to right: Jack White (guitar/vocals), Patrick Keeler (drums) Brendan Benson (guitar/vocals), Jack Lawrence (bassist). In the band's own words, however, asserting that the term implies something pre-planned, whereas they are actually "a new band made up of old friends". The Raconteurs' full-length debut, titled Broken Boy Soldiers, was released on May 15, 2006 in the UK on Third Man Recordings/XL Recordings and May 16 in the US on Third Man Recordings/V2 Records. It entered the UK charts at #2 and the US charts at #7. The album was recorded at Brendan Benson's in-home studio located in Detroit.

Jack White (whos actual name is John Anthony Gillis)(guitarist, vocals, piano) and Meg White (drums, percussion, vocals). This very small band from Detroit, Michigan has a bluesy sound to their music. Their albums are "De Stijl", "White Blood Cells", "Elephant", and "Get Behind Me Satan".

My Chemical Romance

(from left) Bob Bryar (drums), Mikey Way (bass), Frank Iero (rhythm guitar), Ray Toro (lead guitar), and Gerard Way (lead vocals) This Jersey band, formed in 2001, hit it off good. They released their debut album in 2002 their was no singles though. Their second album was released at the same time as Green Days album American Idiot, with singles "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)", "Helena", and "The Ghost of You". Their third album "The Black Parade" which I think is their best album yet, with singles "The Black Parade" and "Famuos Last Words"("Teenagers" is my favorite song.

Franz Ferdinand

Alex Kapranos (lead vocals, guitar), Bob Hardy (bass guitar), Nick McCarthy (guitar, keyboard,), and Paul Thomson (drums, backing vocals). This Indie rock band from Glasgow, England is sort of strangely interesting. Their self-named hit album had three singles ("Take Me Out", "The Dark of the Matinée", and "This Fire") but unfortunately I haven't heard it on the radio at all. Maybe they only play it in England? Their newest album is "You Could Have It So Much Better", and its single is "Do You Want To". I would say that their music is a lot better than their videos. Still, with labels Domino and Epic they're sure to have great music.

Arctic Monkeys

(From left) Alex Turner (lead vocals/guitar), Jamie Cook (rhythm guitar), Matt Helders (drums/vocals), and Nick O'Malley (bass guitar). This band from Sheffield, England has a unique style, sort of a indie/dance/punk rock style. Their album titled Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not got them semi famous when it was launched last year and sold over 360,000 copies. The singles were awesome, I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor and When the Sun Goes Down. Last March on Saturday Night Live, they performed I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor and A Certain Romance. They have released three EPs I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor, Who the Fuck Are the Arctic Monkeys, and recently released Leave Before the Lights Come On. Some people compare them to Franz Ferdinand, but I don't know who I would compare them to. Also if you need to thank any certain record company for this very unique indie band, you can thank Domino records.

OK Go!!!

(From back left to front right) Damian Kulash (lead vocals/guitar), Tim Nordwind (bass/vocals), Dan Konopka (drums), and Andy Ross (guitar/vocals) equals OK Go! My favorite band yea! Today they will be announcing the winner of the dance contest on youtube as a video, heres the link. The former member of OK Go was Andy Duncan who was replaced by Andy Ross. OK Go's style of music is alternative rock, but mostly power pop. They have been nominated for a Grammy (Feb. 11th on CBS at 8:00), which they are surely to win, with their HIGA (Here it goes again) video on the treadmills. Although HIGA may be their most mesmerizing dance video, their other one, A Million Ways, is also extremely fascinating. They also have four rock videos out. Do What You Want, Invincible, Get Over It, and Don't Ask Me. They also released a tour video of You're So Damn Hot, but my personal favorite is the Ping-Pong Instructional Video. OK Go is probably the band I know most about so you will be hearing a lot about.

What English band released their debut album last Feb. and is now #17 on Rolling Stone's top 50 album's of 2006?

Under the Influence of Giants

(From top left to bottom right) Jamin Wilcox (drummer/keyboards), David Amezcua (bass), Drew Stewart (guitars), and Aaron Bruno (vocals/lyrics). UTIOG are also from LA like RKK, but have very little else in common. They do more of an alternative dance type of music than anything, but occasionally they'll play alternative rock or indie pop. Usually they're compared to the Scissor Sisters, but its hard to compare them to about anything. They only have one album released with a major label, altogether they have two, their major label is The Island Def Jam Music Group. The band says who influenced them on their myspace. I'm sorry but if I put them all down no one would read this for anything. They have one music video and I'm petty sure thats all there will be for this album, but I don't know.
